- Nick approved the prosecution of and actually tried hundreds of felony cases himself. These cases ranged from murders (including death penalty eligible offenders), sexual assaults, child predators, armed robberies, aggravated batteries/shootings, domestic batteries, narcotics distribution as well as financial crimes.

- Nick has “de-Blagoyefied” an office which was a forum for classic “pay to play” politics and cronyism. By gubernatorial appointment and unanimous Senate confirmation Nick is charged with the duty of investigating, protecting and probating the assets of deceased persons who die without wills or whose designated executors are unable or unqualified to serve. This past fiscal year 2011 Nick collected and deposited a record $9.3 million with the county without using a dime of tax revenue and by operating that office entirely from self-funding. Under Nick’s leadership the office has been transformed to a truly independent non-political fiduciary office.

- Nick served as Assistant to the Special Counsel for the Secretary of State and was involved in the “Licenses for Bribes” investigation which resulted in the federal prosecution and convictions of numerous state employees, including the former Secretary of State and Governor. Nick was also appointed by the Circuit Court of Cook County as Special State’s Attorney and successfully represented a government official wrongly accused in a series of civil lawsuits of committing fraud and other malfeasance. In those cases, Nick prevailed at each level of the court system.
